What is AB?
In the jewelry world, AB stands for Aurora Borealis. AB is a thin coating of gold that is applied to the crystal stone in order to achieve an iridescent effect. This special coating was created in 1965 when Swarovski and Christian Dior collaborated. Because this technique reflects multiple colors, it reminded them of the Northern Lights… Hence its name, Aurora Borealis!
